Sunningdale residents have a new spot to enjoy their morning brew and catch up with neighbours following the grand opening of 'The Daily Grind' coffee shop. Located in the heart of the Sunningdale Shopping Centre, the new establishment officially opened its doors this past Saturday, drawing a cheerful crowd eager to sample its artisanal coffees and freshly baked pastries.
The Daily Grind aims to be more than just a coffee shop, with owner Lerato Mokoena envisioning it as a community gathering place for the quiet family suburb. The interior boasts comfortable seating, free Wi-Fi, and a small play area for children, catering to the middle-income families that characterise the Randburg area. Their menu features a range of ethically sourced South African coffee beans, alongside light meals, sandwiches, and a selection of gluten-free options to accommodate various dietary preferences.
“We saw a real need in Sunningdale for a relaxed, welcoming space where people can connect, whether it's for a quick coffee before work, a relaxed brunch with family, or an afternoon meeting,” said Lerato Mokoena, owner of The Daily Grind. “The feedback from the community on our opening day has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited to become a true fixture here.” The shop also plans to host monthly ‘meet the roaster’ events and local book club gatherings in the coming months.
The arrival of The Daily Grind is expected to further enhance the local lifestyle offerings within Sunningdale, providing a convenient and inviting alternative to the larger commercial centres like Northgate Mall. Residents can now enjoy high-quality coffee and a friendly atmosphere right on their doorstep, reinforcing the suburb's close-knit community feel.
